The Power of the Lens!

Updated: Oct 6, 2022

As a company focused on the Ambulatory Surgery Center market, we are heavily involved in the world of eye surgery. With Ophthalmic surgery, cases are quick, the documentation needs are thorough, and there is plenty of amazing technology used by surgeons to drastically improve the lives of patients. One of these amazing technologies is the Intra Ocular Lens, or IOL. Selecting the correct lens based on the patient’s measurements and vision goals is crucial in getting a desirable outcome.

At Shareable, we also like to focus on the lens, just a slightly different type of lens! One of the many reasons that we chose to put our application onto the iPad is because of the lens capture functionality that comes with it. Through the years, we have thought many unique ways to use the image-taking ability within our platform and are very proud of what we offer today.

While Shareable is a “forms-based company”, we recognize that there are many things that may need to be in the surgical, paperless chart that may not be actual forms. Implant stickers, A-Scans, EKG Strips, pre and post op patient pictures, etc. With our application, we allow providers to seamlessly snap a picture with the iPad and add it to that patient's chart, while not writing to the iPad camera roll.

We did not stop there. Within the last 12 months, the Product Development team has been able to build in a QR/ Barcode scanner into the iPad as well. Now, if a provider is looking to write in a serial number, device name or strength of lens on a form, they can simply click into that field and a scanner pops up. By scanning that QR/ Barcode, the system grabs the information living behind that code and places it into the right fields within that form. Pretty cool! Have a PDF that’s already digital, but not a form we’ve built out for you in our system? That’s okay, we’ve got you covered there as well with our PDF import feature from any desktop computer.

At the end of the day, the Ambulatory Surgery Center workflow requires unique documentation needs compared to practice and hospital settings. We are constantly working on functionality to fit that ASC mold and better service our clients. A big part of that is making sure we are taking full advantage of the power of the lens, the iPad lens that is!
